Planning Your Fall Wedding

Posted on June 5, 2017 by admin

For brides and grooms who are planning a fall wedding, in New England you can find many fun activities you might incorporate with your special day. Choosing a historic site can offer exciting opportunities.

In the fall, historic districts often celebrate the harvest in traditional fashion. At Exchange Hall, brides and grooms may be greeted with a musket salute from our neighbors at Jones Tavern, who dress in Revolutionary War period costumes and open the 1750’s tavern to the public. Listed on the Registry of Historic Buildings, Exchange Hall joins in the fun and will greet the bride and groom by ringing the large 1860 bell in the copula.

Have an intimate ceremony in the Victorian Room, then dine and dance the afternoon or evening away in the beautiful ballroom. Make your own history, come celebrate and create memories that will last a lifetime.

If you are interested in touring our venue for your upcoming wedding ceremony and/or reception, contact Exchange Hall today. We are happy to answer any questions you may have and can provide a list of our recommended and trusted vendors for your special day. Contact us today by calling us at 978-263-8500 or by filling out our online form.

Spring is one of the most beautiful times in the year. The snow has melted, flowers are blooming and there is no doubt love is in the air. If spring is the perfect time for you to say, “I do”, Exchange Hall has a couple of tips to help you plan a fabulous spring wedding.

  • When it comes to spring weddings, there are various color options that can be used for your big day. Traditional spring colors are usually yellows, greens and pinks that will give your ceremony and reception a classic look. Colors like orange or a deep red can add a pop of color to brighten up your tables. Other options are light earthy tones like ivory and sage
  • Popular spring wedding flowers include hydrangea, rose, peony, lilac, tulip, calla lily and iris. All of these flowers will be in bloom. When paired together, they will create a beautiful and colorful arrangement for your ceremony and reception.
  • If your service is outside, remember the evenings can be chilly. It’s always nice to have a few lightweight blanket throws available for your guests.
  • A packet of summer flowering seeds is an easy and fun gift for your guest to leave with. As they bloom they will remember you and your special celebration.

Planning a Surprise Birthday Party

Posted on September 16, 2016 by admin

Like any party or event, planning a surprise party for someone can be a lot of fun with its own set of challenges. When it comes to getting together in one room the people that love the guest it truly makes it worth the time. Exchange Hall has some party planning tips to help you plan.

Part One: Planning

Think of where you’d like to have the surprise party. To capture the element of surprise, a function hall is perfect. Often function halls can coordinate with the party planner and suggest vendors they have used in the past. Using suggested vendors will ensure there aren’t any surprises with food, music, beverages, etc. Once you’ve chosen your location, set the date and create your list of party guests. An important task when planning is to make sure you reserve the birthday girl or boy for the day of the party!

Part Two: The Ambush

Before the party, reach out to your guests and stress the importance of arriving early so they don’t miss the surprise. Make sure to designate a spot for parking so none of the guests’ cars give away the surprise.

Part Three: The Party

Now that the birthday girl or boy is here and surprised, it’s time to celebrate! If you’re using a DJ, request they play favorites that will get everyone up and dancing. It’s always nice to have some favorite snacks available for guests throughout the night. If the space allows it, you could set up a photo booth so that you’ll never forget the night!

If you’d like to host a surprise party at Exchange Hall and are interested in a tour or more information, contact us today! We can be reached by filling out our online contact form or by calling 978-263-8500.
